Building a Green Future - Shikun & Binui with the Community and the Environment “Building a Green Future” “Summary of Community Relations Activities for 2011 ” One of the primary goals that we set for 2011 was to expand our scope of activities within the community, activities which naturally focused on Israel’s central region but were extended to new regions during the year. Community Relations Activities conducted by the Group during 2011: • The ‘Ort network’ – During 2011 we continued running joint activities with three schools that we had adopted and formulated a rich three-year activity program. This included a theoretical studies program dealing with environmental issues and the promotion of various environmental projects together with the pupils of the schools. One special achievement was recorded in 2011: The ‘Ort Ebin’ school was declared a Green School by the Ministry of Education. • Nature Field School – We donated two reinforced shelters (MMKs) which are now used by the school as classrooms for advancing environmental education. These classes are in addition to a previous 2-classroom structure that we inaugurated in 2010. We are continuing our ongoing adoption of the school, including execution of numerous schoolyard restoration works for the benefit of the pupils by employees of the ‘Shikun & Binui - Solel Boneh’ Maintenance Department, assistance in the establishment of a school library and more. • Organization of joint activities together with school pupils and kindergartens across the country during national holidays (planting of trees in Tu Bishvat, distribution of Purim Packs, etc.). • We restored and built a new library at the ‘Yarden School’, including donating funds and equipment and purchasing books. ‘Young Business Leaders’ - We continued our activities within scope of the project, including contributing the time of volunteer managers and employees and funding annual workshops for pupils of the Haifa and Be’er Sheva regions. This year, the program’s summer camp was joined by the manager of the 'Seventh Avenue Mall' who lead various pupil projects. 58
